Guidance

WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO

Proverbs 13:1, A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
You will always have someone in your ear wanting you to buy this or that, go here or there, or maybe even to follow them. What you do with what they say will either help your walk with the Lord or it will draw you away from Him. Be careful when you don’t have clear direction! The best thing to do is to Do Nothing! It’s the perfect time to, “Be still and know He is God”

LISTENING TO GOD OR MAN?

A great many people are trying to make peace, but that has already been done.  God has not left it for us to do; all we have to do-is to enter into it. - D.L. Moody

I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. Psalm 85:8

How often do you go to friends and family before talking things over with the Lord? We seek guidance from people who don’t even know the Bible much less lives by it. The Psalmist said it best, “I will hear what God the LORD will speak.” Today, spend a little time with Him and allow Him to guide your steps. When we are in His will, nothing else matters and we have a peace that passes all understanding.

IS GOD GUIDING YOUR LIFE?

Give us clear vision that we may know where to stand and what to stand for, because unless we stand for something, we shall fall for anything. --Peter Marshall

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting Micah 5:2

Around 700 years prior to Jesus’ birth Micah prophesied about His place of birth. So as God was guiding Mary and Joseph exactly where they needed to be, they still had a choice to follow. God did not make them go to Bethlehem but He did give them reason to go. It was their own choice that got them there.

Friend, if God is guiding your life you have a choice to follow Him or not. He will point you in the direction you should go and give you plenty of good reasons to go but He will not make you go anywhere. You have to choose! However, if you chose not to, the consequences that follow will be on you. Just ask Jonah!

ONE STEP FORWARD TWO STEPS BACK

Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. Psalm 119:133

I don’t know if you have ever broken a leg or not but I have. When I was four, I was swinging on the front door of our mobile home and I slipped off of the handle. I came crushing down on the ground breaking my right leg. It took several weeks but finally the doctor cut the cast off. After a few days taking a step forward and two steps back, I finally got my legs working in rhythm again! Instead of backing up, I was on my way in the right direction!

Sometimes along this journey we get off track and life begins to take one step forward and two steps back. Satan tempts us with some sin that catches our eye and we fail under the temptation. It is only when we confess and repent that we will begin moving forward once again! When we let Him order our steps, following Him in faith, He will guide us all the way Home!

THERE ARE DECISIONS TO MAKE EVERY DAY

Good decisions are best made when prayed for beforehand.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5

Every day we have decisions to make. Some will have an immediate impact on our lives while others will not be seen in our lifetime. Whether immediate results or tomorrow’s rewards we should spend some time on our knees seeking God’s guidance. We should seek out counsel when His way is not right before us. Then, when we finally pull the trigger, we will know whatever happens we have done our very best for the Lord.
