Independence Day

BE PATRIOTIC

It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ!—Unknown

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

Being patriotic involves a lot more than just putting a July 4th meme on your screen for a day or two. It’s praying for your fellow countrymen and your country’s leaders. It may be serving in the military. It may be having some civil servant job. It may be volunteering in your community. It’s standing for the National Anthem, the Flag when it passes in parades, and when a veteran is noticed in a store. It understands the whole of our history in that a group of Christians had a desire to worship freely so they stood up and did something about it.

In a day of dying patriotism, more people need to stand and do something about it. More people need to stand in the gap. More people need to stand and proclaim the Good News of the Gospel which can set all men free! More people need to take patriotism serious and get busy doing something for God, Country, and their Fellow Man!

Caught or Cheering?

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10

I was once caught in sin's traps. The more I tried the deeper the claws of sin dug into my life. Then, one day, the Master Fisher of Men came by and set me free from those traps! He gave me life and liberty. My friend, that is something to cheer about on this Independence Day!
