Serving

WHO ARE YOU SERVING?

There are many of us that are willing to do great things for the Lord, but few of us are willing to do little things. –Moody

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8

I’m sure all of us have had folks cross into our life with the only intent was to see how much they could get out of our pocket. Some slip into the church with the same thoughts in mind. This is not why the church is here. The church is here to evangelize the lost and edify the believer. It’s not here to equip the moocher! Even though we the church are to serve we are also suppose to be wise with the finances God has given us!

When the opportunity arises, are you willing to serve where God opens the door? If not, why not? What’s hindering you from serving? Why ever it is, get it out of your life and be in preparation to serve where God plants you! Who are you serving?

BE SERVING

The measure of a man is not the number of his servants, but the number of people he serves. –Moody

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

How many opportunities have we missed this week to serve the Lord? How about while in the line at Walmart, did you hand out a Gospel track? How about at church, did you hold a door open for someone? How about at work, did you have an opportunity to share the Gospel?

How many opportunities will we let go by today? In order to limit the number of missed opportunities you had yesterday, you better have a plan before you step foot outside to serve Him today!

WHO ARE YOU LIVING FOR?

Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.—C.T Studd

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

During the Christmas season we can see who some people are living for in the way they respond to kind gestures, gifts, and time they spend with loved ones. A simple thank you for the help provided with a Christmas Party, a word of gratitude for the “unwanted” present, and a few extra minutes spent with the family get together; all magnifies the purposes of one’s heart. Is it for them self or is it for others?

Christian friend, the way you respond when Jesus came as a babe in a manger, how you respond to the gift He gave us when He got up on the Cross, and the amount of time we spend with Him displays what our motives are.

Do you love Him? Do you serve Him? Do you know Him? Who are you living for?

THERE’S PLENTY TO DO, GET BUSY!

When a man turns to God desiring to serve Him, God directs his attention to the world and its need. –Brunner

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

What has God been pushing you to do? What area of service does He want you to serve in that you have been avoiding? What will it take for you to surrender to His will?

Friend there is no better feeling than knowing you are doing exactly what God wants you to do. On the flip side of that is there isn’t a worse feeling in knowing you are so far out of God’s will! But the greatest thing about it is He will let you come back to Him…if you repent and go back to where you left Him at. He’s willing, are you?

What's my purpose?

More men fail through lack of purpose than through lack of talent. –Sunday

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

Some people search all of their lives for their purpose in life. They go through job after job, friend after friend, and relationship after relationship only to end up searching for more. If they would trust Jesus as Saviour their eternal purpose would become very evident pretty quick!

Let me remind you of this important truth: The Lord doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. What are you saying preacher? The Lord isn’t looking for you to bring anything to the table except YOU! Let your purpose start off by giving your life to the Lord!
