MEDITATE ON JESUS

The most important thought I ever had was that of my individual responsibility toward God.

-Webster

2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Get a nugget of Truth and let it grow into a meal that you can chew on the rest of your life, friend. There is so much in the Word of God to choose from that you will never exhaust the topics found therein. When you pick one topic, it always leads to several other topics that you want to check into. It’s not long before you have a collection of thoughts to trace down and meditate on.

Are you studying the Word? Do you have a system of study? Do you do your devotions each morning? Friend, you will never grow like you need to until you have a daily infusion of God’s Word to help you get through the day. Start today by meditating on what Jesus has done for you.

WHAT’S THAT MEAN

It shouldn’t be Greek to the Christian.

Psalm 1:1-3, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Many Christians do the bare minimum to get by. They show up for Sunday morning service and the rest of the week they are MIA. They’re not reading their Bible, studying a Biblical topic, coming to Sunday Evening or heaven forbid they show up on a Wednesday. Then they wonder why they are so anemic when it comes to the things of the Lord. They wonder why their kids have gone the way of the world.

Hey friend, you don’t have to learn Greek to understand the Bible! All you have to be is a student of the Word! Get in it! Dig deep! Learn about Who Jesus is, what He has done for you, and what Heaven going to be like! It’s worth it when you see the victories in your life! Then you won’t be wondering when the pastor is preaching on Sunday morning, “What’s that mean???”

DUE DILIGENCE

Studying for a reason.

2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Some Christians think that Bible reading, study, and prayer is just something pastors do. They don’t have time to read the Bible. They don’t have time to study. They don’t have time to learn of the One who gave Their life for them. What in the world are they thinking???

Christian, let’s do our due diligence, getting busy reading and studying so we can please God with the work He has called us to do.

BEGIN THE DAY IN THE WORD

The study of God's Word, for the purpose of discovering God's will, is the secret discipline which has formed the greatest characters. --J.W. Alexander

2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

When we start our day off in the Word of God, we are setting the day up for victory.

We are preparing our mind. (Thoughts)

We are preparing our manners. (Conduct)

We are preparing our method. (Way)

Do you have a daily time in the Word? If not, why not start today?

BE STUDYING

Ever learning of our Saviour is much needed in an ever changing world.

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business,

and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

1 Thessalonians 4:11

This past Sunday we celebrated our Patch Club kids’ accomplishments for the year. Each of the kids worked hard and finished the tasks that were set before them. They didn’t just wake up and find these tasks were finished. They memorized verses and completed many pages so they could pass the books.

Each one of us would do well to follow the lead of these young people. We should never stop learning about our Saviour! We should not retire our learning, we should re-fire it! We should keep on keeping on!

STUDY UP!

Not only do we need to have a constant diet of the Word of God we also need to have constant application of it!

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

When is the last time you did an algebraic equation? I mean you learned exactly which step came first and how to come up with the right answer. Can you still do it? If you’re like me, NO! Why; because you haven’t done one in a very long time!

While we walk this pilgrim way we need to be constantly sharpening our witnessing skills! We need to be in the Word in order to be able to give account of the hope that lives and abides in us. How would it be if someone came and asked you how to get to Heaven—could you answer them? Would you be ashamed of your response? If you are in the Word you won’t be! So Study up and then share it!

GEAR UP!

There is a fierce enemy seeking to destroy you. What will you do to prepare to have victory?

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

Satan doesn’t want you to have victory in your life. So he throws everything he can at you so you will trip up, fail, and fall. What are we to do; gear up! We must be sober and vigilant.

What does sober mean? Well it has the meaning of not being drunk, being alert, and being aware. We are not to be overcome with this world and it’s ways in such a way that causes us to let down our guard. If and when we do—the enemy attacks!

What does vigilant mean? It means to be kept awake. Often after we have our Sunday lunch the Z monster sets in. We sit in our recliner and before you know it we are snoring like a freight train going through a tunnel. With that deep sleep going on we can’t hear the enemy sneaking up on us to attack. We must keep watch for the enemy is lurking!

There are other ways we can gear up as well; prayer, Bible reading and study, serving at church, attending Sunday School, and church activities are excellent ways to gear up and get ready for your adversary’s attack!

Home Improvement Begins with a King James Bible

The study of God's Word, for the purpose of discovering God's will, is the secret discipline which has formed the greatest characters. --J.W. Alexander

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

I am convinced that the reason we do not have more victory in our lives is because we do not have enough Bible in our lives! You want to see victory after victory in your life? Get the dust of the Precious Word of God, that King James Bible! Get to reading and studying every jot and tittle and before you know it—BAM—victory over some of the sin that so easily besets you!
