Walk

I AM WEAK

I might be weak, but in Christ, I am strong!

2 Corinthians 12:9, And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

If you have ever had to babysit a toddler that could not walk unassisted yet, I am sure you probably lifted them up with their hands, had them stand on your feet, and let them walk with you. That child laughed and asked to do it again when you stopped. Why; because they were made strong by your strength.

Friend, as you and I yield our weak, sinful bodies over to Jesus Christ, He gives us His strength! He gives us His grace! He takes on our infirmities and we get His power! I might be weak, but in Christ, I am strong!

WALK WORTHY

A daily walk with the Lord produces a lifetime of grace.

Ephesians 4:1-3, I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Grace is not only for salvation. Grace is needed in our lives daily as we are in this world. We need grace for trials and tribulations. We need grace for victories won. We need to display grace when our flesh is determined to fight tooth and nail against it.

As we walk worthy of the calling God has given us, we will display His grace in each day we live. Then, at the end of our life, we will hear God say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”

Will you be the display of grace today that God desires? Or will you be so filled with the flesh that no one will see Jesus in you? Walk worthy!

ANOTHER LAP

Exercise and eating right is hard but it sure does make you feel better.

1 Timothy 4:8, For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

So, for the past 5 months my wife and I have been going to the walking track almost everyday together. For the first couple of months we walked for a mile and then we took on another. Forty-five minutes of each day is invested in our lives to drop a few pounds, get my blood pressure down, and hopefully live longer. By the grace of God, two of those three goals have been obtained. Let’s just say, I’m going to have to buy some new pants pretty soon. 😊

However, if that’s all we ever did and we never invested into our spiritual walk with the Lord, it would all be in vain. You see, while losing weight and getting that blood pressure down is important to living a healthier life, it does not guarantee a longer life. Our lives are in the hands of our Saviour. Our days have been numbered. It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. You may be physically fit. Your blood pressure my be perfect. You may have just left the doctors office. However, if it is your time to go, I hope you’re ready to meet Jesus. Are you ready—spiritually? If not, take another lap through the Word of God!

A SAD DAY ON EARTH

Following the Lord requires a daily walk.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Jeremiah 6:16

The Children of Israel were commanded to stand in the ways of God asking for the old paths that would lead to rest. But they wouldn’t have any of it. They said, “We will not walk therein.” The Lord said, “I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet.” They said, “We will not harken.” God gave them the judgment for their disobedience, He said, “I will bring evil upon this people” What a sad day that was when God tried His best to get them to listen but yet they turned and went their own way.

One of the things a Pastor hates to hear is when one of his congregation members has chosen to leave the church entering a life of sin. It doesn’t happen overnight though. Long before the church member leaves the church physically they left spiritually. It was a progress leading the member be over taken in the sin. It was a daily choice to live for self instead of the Saviour!

Will you follow the Lord—Daily? Will you walk in the old paths? Will you find rest for your soul?

HOW IS YOUR WALK WITH CHRIST?

Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter. -Spurgeon

Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. 3 John 1:6-7

When I was growing up we had baseball tryouts. This is when any young man trying out for the team would compete for an opportunity to play ball. Every young man would give it his best shot but there were more guys than spots on the team so someone had to get cut. What made the difference? What cause one fella to stand out more than another? What caused the coach to cut one boy and allow another to be on the team? Two words come to my mind; faithfulness and fruitfulness.

Notice what the John tells Gaius, “…thou shalt do well”. John didn’t commend Gaius on his social status, his economic wealth, or anything else. What John commended Gaius for was his walk with Jesus. It was a faithful and fruitful walk. Anything less would have caused John not to mention Gaius at all.

How is your walk with the Lord? Is it faithful and fruitful? Will you hear Him say, “Well done?”

I’VE GOT A NEW STRIDE

Salvation affects the way we talk and walk!

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

My feet use to take me to the things the world offers. My fingers use to guide me in the way of temptation. My eyes cut to sinful pleasures of wickedness. My ears absorbed the beat of the devils music. But the day I got saved, I began to walk in the newness of life! The stride of my life began to change that day and it has never been the same!

How’s your walk with the Lord? Have you stepped off the straight and narrow onto the broad way that leads to destruction? Ask the Lord to forgive you and get back where you need to be with Him!
